Ameripark wasn’t built by a hedge fund or a faceless REIT. It was built by a guy who learned early on that the way you treat people and equipment is the whole job. This is the story behind why we run the place the way we do.
Whitney Jurjevich joined the Marine Corps right out of high school in 1993. He spent the next decade as a helicopter crew chief, deploying around the world and learning two things the Corps drills into every Marine: the mission comes first, and you take care of your people.
Those two ideas, mission accomplishment and troop welfare, sound simple on a recruiting poster. In practice they are how Marines decide what to do when nobody is watching. They follow you out of the service and into whatever comes next.
For Whitney, what came next was law enforcement. He left the Corps in 2004, settled in Arizona, and spent nearly twelve years as a police officer in Prescott Valley and Tempe. Same two ideas, different uniform: do the job right, look after the people around you.
By 2012, Whitney and his now-wife were building a life and a family in Arizona. A police officer’s salary alone wasn’t going to get them where they wanted to go, so he started looking at businesses. Dog groomers. Laundromats. Bowling alleys.
Just about everything you’d consider before stumbling onto RV and boat storage. When he met with brokers about traditional self-storage, the answer was always the same: bring twenty-five million dollars and we’ll talk. He didn’t have it.
What he did find was an overlooked, beat-up little RV and boat storage lot in Tempe. At the time, RV and boat storage was the part of the industry nobody took seriously. Land holds. Mom-and-pop side hustles. Dirt lots with a fence around them.
Whitney bought it in 2012. He worked his cop shift during the day and spray-painted parking lines on his off-hours. He kept his head down, fixed what was broken, and ran it the way he was taught to run things. Six years later, it had grown enough that he could leave law enforcement and build storage full-time.
That’s where Ameripark Covered Storage came from.
There are storage facilities in the Valley that cost fifteen million dollars to build. Marble bathrooms, enclosed wash bays, valet service, you name it. They have to charge top-dollar rents to make the math work.
We built smart instead. Our facilities cost a fraction of what those Taj Mahal lots cost, which means we don’t have to chase you down for premium rent to stay in business. You get what actually matters: covered protection, wide aisles, electric outlets at every covered space, on-site dump stations, gated access, and a team that picks up the phone. You don’t get marble bathrooms. You shouldn’t have to pay for them either.
Whitney serves on the board of the Arizona Self Storage Association, helping shape the standards and practices of the storage industry in the state. It’s a small thing in the day-to-day, but it matters. The folks running this place aren’t here to flip a quick asset. We’re invested in doing this well, for the long haul.

Today, Ameripark Covered Storage operates two facilities in the Phoenix metro area: one in Mesa and one in Waddell. Both are built around the same idea Whitney started with: take care of the people, take care of the equipment, and don’t run a business you’d be embarrassed to be a customer of.
